Tax Manager This position has responsibility for tax department administration and planning, supervising and oversight of processes and work product. Includes creating and implementing necessary policies and procedures, as well as providing guidance to executive management and clients with respect to tax planning opportunities and issues.
Essential Job Functions:
Successful candidate should think ‘outside the box’ and recognize the broader implications of a project and look beyond the task at hand. Specifically, the candidate will:
• Be able to identify tax issues and be a resource in answering questions and resolving problems
• Assist with client advice
• Lead process and technology improvement initiatives to improve quality and drive efficiencies in the department
• Serve as a role model and mentor for professional staff demonstrating a positive attitude, a willingness to make personal sacrifices to meet client demands and by being a team player
• Participates in the firm’s practice development efforts through article writing, cultivating referral sources, involvement in community, industry activities, and public speaking, and attendance at firm functions
Job Requirements/Working Conditions:
• CPA/MST or JD is required
• Minimum of 8 years of tax experience with compliance and broad research background
• Research should be diverse in terms of corporate, partnership, and individual tax exposure
• Strong accounting and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Previous leadership experience is desired
• Workload and client demands create tight deadlines and the need to work under pressure. The project team environment and associated team effort serve to lessen the pressure on any one individual
